Naval Air Station Pensacola is home to the Naval Air and Operational Medical Institute who provides training to all naval flight surgeons, aviation physiologists, and aviation experimental psychologists. Naval Station Pensacola is the primary training base for Navy, Marine and Coast Guard aviators and is home base for the famous flying team, the Blue Angels. Other tenants located at Naval Air Station Pensacola include the U.S. Air Force Navigator/Combat Systems Officers for the F-15E Strike Eagle and the B-1B Lancer bomber and the Training Squadron 10 Wildcats. NAS Pensacola is located near Warrington, Florida, near Pensacola. Housing is privatized at NAS Pensacola and handled by Balfour Beatty Communities. There are over 550 family housing units available in 8 different neighborhoods. Military personnel are asked to contact the Management Office in Building 735 on 1581 Duncan Road for information regarding homes for sale or rent as well as apartment complexes located off post. On-post housing has a wait time that is dependent on rank and the number of bedrooms requested. There is no bachelor housing at the base at this time. Temporary lodging is limited at NAS Pensacola and advance reservations are recommended. The Navy Lodge, Blue Angel Park, and Grove Park are facilities that provide temporary quarters. There are currently no Department of Defense schools at NAS Pensacola, but the neighboring community of Escambia County, Florida offers 35 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, 7 high schools, and 19 alternative schools. Bus service is provided for those students who live in the district of their assigned school. If students reside on Naval Air Station Pensacola, they will attend Navy Point Elementary School, Warrington Middle School, and Pensacola High School. Before and after school programs are limited, and private schools are also available in Escambia County. Contact the School Liaison Officer at 850-458-6588 for more information. Child care is available for dependents of active military and includes daycare for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The Child Development Homes program offers full-time, part-time or hourly are in government homes for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
